Double-dinner treat for Martell’s Tricentennial.
As you may already be aware, this year marks Martell’s 300th anniversary, so it’s expected that the grand old cognac house would have a full year’s calendar of exciting parties and mouth-watering dinners many of which are by invitation only. Just recently on the 24 and 25 of April, two such events took place in Singapore in partnership with the city state’s gastronomy festival, the World Gourmet Summit.
The first culinary extravaganza, dubbed A STARS Celebration -The Four Hands Dinner, featured the talents of chef Christophe Muller (a three Michelin-star recipient from the L’Auberge du Pont de Collonges of the Paul Bocuse Group) and Singapore-based kitchen maestro Julien Royer (chef de cuisine of JAAN at Swissôtel the Stamford) who whipped up a gastronomic feast of quintessentially French haute cuisine.
The following evening then saw Martell playing host to the Pure Gourmet Tasting Dinner, which featured Chinese cuisine specialists Susur Lee and Ken Ling. The theme of the dinner was the pairing of Chinese cuisine and Martell cognacs in a delicious union of East meets West. Each ingredient was thoughtfully chosen for its ability to enhance the flavours and textures of each dish, while of course, complementing the cognacs.
No Martell party would be complete without the opportunity to savour some special edition blends and the World Gourmet Summit excelled in that respect. Among the exclusives available during the festival were the Limited Edition Martell Cordon Bleu and the Martell XO Exclusive Tricentenaire Edition, both of which were offered during the dinners.
In addition, the 300-year old cognac house also re-released a limited edition bottle and blend titled Cordon Bleu ‘A Tribute to Martell’s 300-year anniversary’. This particular blend was matured in barrels crafted from a 300-year-old tree and was presented in a modern interpretation of the classic Martell XO decanter.
On a final note, one lucky (and fabulously wealthy no doubt) guest took home a Martell XO Exclusive Tricentenaire Edition which was auctioned during the festival to raise funds for the Community Chest, Singapore, a non-profit body that raises funds for the less fortunate through various welfare and charity groups in the city.cs
